Students from nine area counties will have the chance to participate in advanced science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programs at the Brogan Museum’s Go Beyond Honeywell MacLab, a project funded by a $25,000 gift from Honeywell.

The project is the first of its kind in the area and will enable students to translate their hands-on learning experiences into activities based on STEM content.

“Having the MacLab at the Brogan Museum is a huge opportunity for Go Beyond Foundation and our programs,” said Allan Stamm, president of the Go Beyond Foundation. “The STEM-based learning experiences that will result from the Go Beyond – Brogan partnership will allow us to provide opportunities that are not currently being offered to the next generation of young scientists and engineers.”

Vince Rydzewski, Honeywell’s vice president and general manager for the South and Latin America Region, said the company specifically looks to support programs that can impact lives in direct and measurable ways. “We believe we have found that with the Go Beyond Honeywell MacLab,” he added.

Honeywell Hometown Solutions is the company’s corporate citizenship initiative that provided the financial support for the MacBook Learning Lab. Hometown Solutions is active in four main areas: family safety and security; housing and shelter; science and math education; and humanitarian relief.
